Web Portal and Computer Setup


I. NIGHT SHIFT WEB PORTAL

A. Using the Night Shift Portal page

    1. Open a web browser and go to portal web address www.NightShiftTherapy.com
    2. Click on Portal link at the top of the page.
    3. The following buttons will be presented:

    1. Register Your Night Shift Device Only – Use this button to register you device without saving any information to your device. This can be done without connecting the device to the computer.
    2. Register & Manage Device & Generate Reports – This button will open the Night Shift Software as shown below (NOTE: You must have Java in order to use the software. Please click here and follow the directions to correctly setup your computer)

B. Generate Reports Page

After the Night Shift has been worn and sleep data recorded, Night Shift reports can be generated. From the Night Shift software, click on the Generate Reports button.

  1. Username – Enter the name for the individual that wore the Night Shift device. This information will appear at the top of the Night Shift Reports.
  2. Detailed Report – To generate a Detailed Report, select the radio button next to Detailed Report, select up to 6 dates to include on the report, and click the Generate Report button. The Detailed Report is generated and presented in the computers default PDF viewer.
  3. To generate either a 1-Month or 1-Year Summary Report, select the radio button next to Summary Report, select radio button for 1-Year or 1-Month, select month (if necessary), and click the Generate Report button. The Summary Report is generated and presented in the computers default PDF viewer.

C. Manage Device Page

The mange device page is used to change the positional feedback setting and to manage your Night Shift device.

  1. Manage Your Night Shift – Start Position Feedback can be used to adjust the feedback settings for study acquisition.
    • After 15 minutes – turns positional feedback on 15 minutes after device is turned on.
    • After 30 minutes – turns positional feedback on 30 minutes after device is turned on.
    • No Feedback – turns feedback off for the entire night and all subsequent nights.
    • Trial – is used by clinicians to establish a baseline with no feedback for one night, and with feedback for two nights. All recordings made after the third night of a trial will have feedback. Once baseline night is recorded, it will remain on the device until Clear Study History is selected.
  2. Manage Your Data
    • Restore Study Data – Loads the study data that was on the device at the time of the last firmware upgrade back onto the device.
    • Clear Study History – Erase all historical data from the device.

D. Register Device Page

To register, enter your Name and Email address, type in the words to verify your information, and click the save button. If you enter your name it will be saved to the Device and appear as the ‘Customer’ each time a report is generated. Do not enter your name and email address if you do not want this information stored to the device and printed on all reports.

II. COMPUTER SETUP

A. Windows 7, 8, or 10

First, check that the device is plugged in correctly and recognized by the computer.

  1. Plug device into the computer using the USB cable.
  2. When device is first plugged into the computer, the device should vibrate and the light on the device should be solid green. Did this happen?
    1. If yes, go to step 3.
    2. If no,
    1. Battery may be dead – leave device plugged into the computer until device vibrates and light turns on, it could take 15 minutes for this to happen. Once device vibrates/light is on, unplug from computer and start over at step 1.
    2. If battery is charged, USB port on your computer may be bad. Try plugging cable into a different USB port and start over at step 1.
    3. If USB port is good and battery is charged, you could have a bad cable. Try using a different cable to connect the device and the computer, and start over at step 1.
  3. When the device is plugged in, the computer should recognize that a device is plugged in and should automatically open an AutoPlay window which shows the drive where the device was plugged.

If the computer and device both recognize that they are connected, then the problem probably is related to your Java installation.

  1. Go to www.Java.com and click Free Java Download. Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install Java.
  2. You now have one correct version of Java. Close the browser used to download Java.
  3. Using the browser of your choice, go to www.NightShiftTherapy.com and click Portal.
  4. Click the browser you are using and follow the directions to download the software in your browser of choice:
    Edge
    Firefox
    Google Chrome
    Internet Explorer

Windows – Edge

    1. Click Register & Manage Device / Generate Reports
    2. Click Save
    3. Click Open
    4. The following pop-up message will appear:
    5. Check Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above and click Run (Note: If this is checked, this message will no longer pop-up.)
    6. Software will open in another window. If the software says that the device is not connected, please unplug the device and plug it back into the computer. The serial number of the device should now appear in the software, indicating that the device is connected.
    7. If the software did not open in another window or if the software is attempting to open using any program other than Java (ex: Adobe or Internet Explorer), please follow these directions to change the default program to open .JNLP files with Java Web Start:
      1. Open your computer’s Control Panel
      2. Click “Programs”
      3. Click “Make a file type always open in a specific program”
      4. Locate .JNLP file type
      5. Current default should be set to Java(TM) Web Start Launcher, if it is not set to this click “Change program…”
      6. Locate “Java(TM) Web Start Launcher” OR “javaws.exe”
      7. Click “Open” – program file default for a JNLP is now changed to Java(TM) Web Start Launcher
      8. Click “Close”
      9. Open your desired browser (Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer)
      10. Go to www.NightShiftTherapy.com and click “Portal”
      11. Click the “Register & Manage Device/ Generate Reports” button
      12. Open the download – software will now open in Java Web Start

B. Mac

First, check that the device is plugged in correctly and recognized by the computer.

  2. A pop-up window like one of the following will appear
  3. Click OK
  4. The following pop-up will appear
  5. Click OK
  6. On the upper right side of the browser, click the Down Arrow button and the following will appear
  7. Click the magnifying glass icon
  8. Downloads window will open. Right click NightShift.jnlp and scroll over Open With and click Java Web Start (default)
  9. The following message will appear
  10. Click Open
  11. The following pop-up message will appear
  12. Check Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above and click Run (Note: If this is checked, this run application message will no longer appear for future uses with our portal)
  13. Software will open in another window. If the software says that the device is not connected, please unplug the device and plug it back into the computer. The serial number of the device should now appear on the portal, indicating that the device is connected. If this still does not happen, contact Technical Service by:

  1. Click Register & Manage Device / Generate Reports
  2. The following message will appear at the bottom of the browser
  3. Click Keep
  4. One of the following downloads will appear at the bottom of the browser
  5. Click on the arrow next to the NightShift.jnlp download
  6. Click Show in Folder
  7. Right click NightShift.jnlp and scroll over Open With and click Java Web Start (default)
  8. The following message will appear
  9. Click Open
  10. The following pop-up message will appear
  11. Check Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above and click Run (Note: If this is checked, this run application message will no longer appear for future uses with our portal)
  12. Software will open in another window. If the software says that the device is not connected, please unplug the device and plug it back into the computer. The serial number of the device should now appear on the portal, indicating that the device is connected. If this still does not happen, contact Technical Service by:

  2. The program will download to your Downloads folder. On the far right upper corner of the browser, click down arrow button
  3. Click the magnifying glass icon
  4. Downloads window will open. Right click NightShift.jnlp and scroll over Open With and click Java Web Start (default)
  5. The following message will appear
  6. Click Open
  7. The following pop-up message will appear
  8. Check Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above and click Run (Note: If this is checked, this run application message will no longer appear for future uses with our portal)
  9. Software will open in another window. If the software says that the device is not connected, please unplug the device and plug it back into the computer.
