Night Shift Mobile App Support

Mobile Application

Phone/Tablet Requirements:

  • Operating System: iOS 14+ (iPhone X or newer) or Android 10+
  • Bluetooth 5.0+
  • Internet Connection

What is the question?

Device not connecting to App

Only Night Shift LE devices (serial number starting with 2+) can be used with the mobile app. To connect to the mobile app, the Bluetooth must be active on both the mobile device and the Night Shift device. The Bluetooth in the Night Shift LE device is active in the following circumstances:

  • Night Shift LE device is plugged into a power source
  • During the first 15 minutes after the Night Shift LE device is turned OFF

Why is my date/time on report incorrect

The date/time on your device and the report may be incorrect for one of these reasons:

  1. Time Zone differences at the time of purchase
  2. Device is unable to maintain the clock information when the battery is fully drained
  3. A faulty USB cable is used to connect the device to the PC or power source, resulting in the clock information resetting to an incorrect time. Note: Replacing the USB cable should prevent this issue.

When the device is connected to the Night Shift App, the date/time on the Night Shift device is automatically updated to be the same as your mobile device. To manually change the date/time on the Night Shift device, use the button on the Date/Time page. Please note, the updated date and time will only affect future nights. All previously recorded nights will not change.

Why is supine gray instead of red on the report

When the vibrational feedback is turned off, periods where the user is sleeping on their back are marked as gray. Click here for more information about interpreting your Night Shift Report

Android not connecting

Android devices will need to allow the following permissions:

  • Location Services (for both the mobile device and the Night Shift app)
  • Nearby Devices for the Night Shift app (if applicable)

Only Night Shift LE devices (serial number starting with 2+) can be used with the mobile app. To connect to the mobile app, the Bluetooth must be active on both the mobile device and the Night Shift device. The Bluetooth in the Night Shift LE device is active in the following circumstances:

  • Night Shift LE device is plugged into a power source
  • During the first 15 minutes after the Night Shift LE device is turned OFF

How are awake periods calculated

The duration and intensity of movement by neck actigraphy are used to determine when the user is asleep or awake. The first ten minutes of the session are always classified as awake even if the user falls asleep immediately. The height and color of the lines indicate the intensity and duration of the movement that is called awake. Click here for more information about interpreting your Night Shift Report

Why is supine listed as N/A on the snoring chart

When the device vibrates in the supine position, the vibrations are captured by the device as noise. To avoid distorting the accuracy of the snoring data, the report does not include the noise registered while the device is vibrating. Snoring levels in the supine position will only be presented when the device is set to “No Vibration” or during the first night of “Trial Mode”.

How to print/save reports

The report is only displayed in the app. You can select the button to Send Report to Email. This will email a PDF version of the report that you can then save or print.

How is sleep efficiency calculated

Sleep Efficiency is calculated by dividing the total time asleep by the total time the device was turned on. Click here for more information about interpreting your Night Shift Report.

Report differences when using neck strap vs chest belt

The Sleep/Wake algorithm only works correctly when the device is worn on the neck. As such, when the device is worn on the chest, the Sleep/Wake graph and statistics will not appear on the reports. NOTE: Due to the differing location of the microphone, the chest belt snoring data should not be compared to the neck strap snoring data.
